Bette Foord’s latest single ‘So Called Home‘ rocketed up the Atomic Top Twenty music chart to reach number 2 in what is a long-awaited return to the chart, a chart that Bette has topped before.
‘So Called Home’ is the lead single from Bette’s upcoming album ‘AVO Bitch’ that is coming out on October 16, Bette tells the story in the song’s description on Atomic.
My abuser is unfortunately getting out of jail on Oct 16, so I’m taking my power back & releasing an album about it…also on Oct 16th! It’s called “AVO Bitch” (as that’s what he used to scream at me). This was traumatic & therapeutic to create. This is the first single of the album. I’m very proud of this yet it was so scary to share this DV story with everyone. I’d really appreciate your support throughout this journey. Thank you
Abuse is a major problem in the world, people, mostly men believe that they have the right to control their partner or somebody they know lives, dictating what they can do, where they can go, what they must wear, who they can see, control what they spend, verbally abusing and mocking them.
If their partner goes against it, physical force can be used, often with deadly outcomes, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare ‘One woman was killed every 11 days, and one man was killed every 91 days by an intimate partner on average in 2022–23‘
If you know somebody who is being abused, do not keep it to yourself, report it and if you are being abused, do not tolerate it, take action immediately, it may save your life and put away somebody who deserves to be jailed.
